Just got back from an exhilarating week photographing Spirit Bears (white variant of Black Bear caused by a recessive gene) in the Great Bear Rainforest of coastal British Columbia. We had so many great opportunities with the bears, it was a wildlife photographer's dream! Here's one of the first images I've had a chance to process. Please let me know what you think.

Gear: Canon 1D4, EF 500/4 IS II,  ISO 800, 1/200s @ f/5.6.

Thanks!
Ethan

Sounds like a great trip. I like the balance of this composition using the curve of the rock on the left to counter the white bear. Good pose and eye contact too.

The contrast between the colour of the bear and the environment is great, I like it.

Gorgeous image -- nice contrast of the bear with the darker habitat.

Ethan, what a wonderful opportunity and well-composed and exposed image! I saw a Spirit Bear about ten years ago, but not this close. The curved, moss-covered rock in the foreground forms a "cradle" that holds the bear. Congratulations on a achieving a well-done photo of a subject many people never get to see or experience!

A nice composition with the rocks framing your subject so well and a lovely clear view of this iconic bear!
