Recent trip to Cataloochee, Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Although the rut is yet to start, this huge bull is already asserting his dominance.

Great capture here, detail and exposure are perfect.
I supoe more room for the virtual legs might improve but not a serious problem.

Thanks John and Ken for your comments - definitely agree it's a little tight. I sadly couldn't back up any further!! This is as framed.

It was probably a slightly comical scene with me desperately trying to keep distance between myself and the bull, shooting from the other side of the road to everyone else, almost in the trees!! Not the most ideal camera/lens combination for large mammals!!!

Thanks again

Martin

Great pose and lighting, even a nice catchlight in the eye. I rather think more distance is better with a big boy getting ornery!

Great bugling pose in wonderful light. A little tight on the bottom and the white tree trunk in the background could be toned down a tad, but an exceptional image.

Thanks all for your comments. I'm going to test my PS skills and see if I can (invisibly) add some canvass, and also darken the white trunk a little.

If you check back, here's a link to a "canvass expanded" version.

Comments very welcome.

Thanks again for the suggestions.
