I am stoked to be able to announce that this photo has just been awarded as the First Runner Up in the category "Wild Cats of Africa" in the inaugural round of the Nature's Best Photography Africa competition (in conjunction with Nature's Best Photography in the USA).

I captured this photo during our Wild Eye Great Migration safari back in 2013 - one of those rare moments when the chase ends up close to your vehicle as opposed to far in the distance.

Techs:
Nikon D3s
Nikkor 500mm f4 VR-II
f8.0 | 1/3200 SS | ISO-1000

Outstanding photo. The expression on the Thompson's Gazelle (I think that what it is) says it all.

Great shot Morkel. As much as I do not want to stare at it, it keeps drawing me in. Congratulation.

Wow this had to be heart stopping to see and photograph. Nature is wonderful in many ways, but not if you are the prey.
