At the end of June about 6 Humpbacks were feeding for about 10 days close to the Avila Beach Pier. The whales were frequently quite close to the pier. This event drew quite a few people.

Excellent detail of this amazing scene Richard and a good view of the barnacles. This must have been wonderful to watch from the pier!

The most fun I've had in a long time. Listening to the outbursts by the folks on the pier every time there was a lunge by one, two and sometimes three whales at the same time was pretty cool.

So unusual to be able to watch any kind of whales from shore, what a treat. I love the pattern and detail here. Looks like the people weren't the only ones drawn to the feeding frenzy...

Super, Richard! I have never seen an image taken quite so close. Good detail and I like the centering.
