Found this cute little 4 year old (?) Grizzly near sundown in the Canadian Rockies.  It must have been digging roots.  Really not a good year for Bears in the Canadian Rockies.  No first year cubs, that I saw.  Probably mostly due to the Blueberry crop failure last fall.  Very few Grizzlies.  Also, at least 13 Bears were killed on the RR tracks due to spilled grain. I won't go into the weather.  Hopefully things will improve next year.  Canon EOS 1D IV, EF 100-400 IS II @ 124, f/5, 1/1250, ISO 2000.

I edited this to include more of the foreground as suggested.

Great image of this young Grizz! Really like the eye contact and lifting the paw!

I am so sad about the loss of 13 bears :) Your image of this young one is wonderful. I think giving it more canvas at the bottom would really enhance it.

Missy,

Thank you for the suggestion.  I edited my photo to add a little foreground, and even though it is out of focus I think it improves the photo.
