took this in Nakuru, one of my favourite places in Kenya.   On this occasion I was lucky to get a fairly close up view, albeit with a 500 on  D300.  The things that I wanted to share was the textures on the mane and the blue tongue.  (Only experience prior to the blue tongue was in 1994 where I actually fed a wild giraffe.  slimy and slippery doesn't do it justice.  D300 And 500 AF-S II at 1/500 at F5 and -0.67.  HH

She's lovely Dave, and I agree, the tongue - and what they can do with it - is amazing!

The tongue makes this one for me Dave, I also like the bugs buzzing about it's head.

Very nice profile Dave! Great soft lighting helps reveal the texture in the mane and that wonderful blue tongue. One day I hope to visit Kenya and photograph these beautiful animals.
