Baby Bison

This was the only newborn bison at Wind Cave National Park in South Dakota I saw four days ago. It will have a week or more head start on the others born this spring. Notice the umbilical cord.
Canon 1dM3, Canon 500mm, 1/640 sec at f/8, and ISO 200.

Very cute although a little tight in the frame to me. I like how the dirt matches the colors in the calf.

Full frame. I was not able to back up. I did get some with its mother further back.
