Another shot from our South Africa trip last September. We do a boat trip each year to photograph the Southern Right Whales in False Bay off of Cape Town. Last year we had good luck with quite a few breaches. This is cropped from horizontal to vertical. You can see from the techs that we were pretty close. The background is the town of Simonstown, a suburb of Cape Town.

Great breaching shot Nate, barnacles and all! I like the town in the background, it gives quite a sense of scale with this amazing creature and I love the water cascade!

I live just around the corner in Cape Town nowadays, so this is a familiar place for me now. They have great pizzas in Simonstown :-)

Spectacular action! I would normally not like a background like this, but I actually think it works nicely here.
