Hi Folks,

Just came back from a 2 week dive trip in the Philippines.  For the first 3 days we went to the central island of Cebu to dive with the amazing pelagic thresher sharks (Alopias pelagicus) of Monad Shoal.  Monad is one of the few places on the planet where you can regularly see these graceful animals at scuba reachable depths.

We could only use available light so to avoid the monochromatic blue, I converted to BW using Nik Silver EFX.

Hi Stu,

Great shot. I love the angle of the tail. I bet ti's great in color, too.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys! Was a magical moment when we saw them. =) Mark, colour version is so so, we were in fairly dark conditions as you can see from the exposure data, so it was all shades of blue.

=)

Very nice, with the shot angle and the sweeping tail.

Gives a great sense of motion. Like the B&W rendering

I love the perspective here with the body and tail on the swerve Stu! Nice in b/w but from what you say about the blue tones in the colour version, that sounds like it might be a great view too!

Now that's a heterocercal tail! Nice body position of the shark.
