Funny how certain photos take a couple of years to jump out at you. I took this in 2013 in Etosha, and never looked twice at it until this weekend...

Don't you just love the size difference here? A massive giraffe bull and a petite springbok ewe quench their thirst at sunset in the Etosha National Park, Namibia.
And no - I couldn't reposition to separate the head of the giraffe and the springbok as I was crouching down on foot, and the slightest movement made the animals at the waterhole scuttle and spook .

Hi

Well I think it is rather nice - I like the interaction and suspect many will agree, a fine shot

All the best

It works for me Morkel, I definitely like it - and the light isn't too shabby either!

Morkel, you are so right. We are all so caught up by sharpness, backgrounds and distractions that we miss the important stuff. This is wonderful!

The juxtaposition is fascinating! The difference in the size of their heads is amazing!

I don't mind the slight overlap so much as the springbok being out of focus. A bit smaller aperture could have helped a lot here I think. Otherwise, I do like the image.

Thank you all for the kind comments.
Yes, more DOF would have been nice - but the moment was brief and I took what I could before one of them walked away...
