This is an older image that I took almost 4 years ago in Yellowstone.  I had been photographing this Coyote as it feed on what appeared to be a moose carcass for probably 20 minutes when it's ears suddenly went up and it started looking around before heading quickly to higher ground.  At that point I thought it might have sensed a nearby wolf or bear so I started to pack up when the coyote stopped on this rock and gave me this wistful pose before disappearing over the boulder.

Wonderful image Malcolm! I love the composition, the placement and look back pose of the coyote, and the inclusion of the habitat in this lovely scene. The soft light over the landscape is so nice. Love it!

When the habitat is attractive it's nice to be able to include some of it. Nice soft light, well composed, I like this one a lot.
