Stepping out ... This male Elk was frisky with the cold -25 degree weather!
Snow falling lightly with cloud cover over the snow covered fields.
Sun would give small shadows from light clouds passing over, taken mid day @1PM local time.

Hand held while lying in the snow, @ 116mm, F5.6, 1/500, ISO160, +1.0 Meter Compensation, Slight leveling crop,
Cold but Exciting to witness!

Comments and Critique Appreciated .

Beautiful action Bill. Love the two hooves off the snow with head up and antlers back!

What a proud boy! A lovely illustration of the prancing gait with alternate near and offside legs working in harmony and head thrown back.

Love the background depth with the view through the trees and the snowy setting. Beautiful image Bill!

Another E.D, GREAT!

The Elk I am not too familiar with , Yet! Their unique way of travelling with head high and forward is very different. My capture here is intentional with the legs positioning . Many seasons Photographing horses has trained my eye to capture this movement. This position really shows off is stride length, flexibility of the legs and joints in their extension, muscle in hind quarters, and finally thickness of chest!

Thanks for the Feedback... Really appreciate !:)

Beautiful image! Love the strut! Just like he is saying that "he is the boss of the mountain"! Nicely done, like the low angle!
