A Colorado Mule deer feeding on a zero degree morning a couple of weeks ago.
Canon 1dMIII, 200mm, 1/200 sec at f/8, slightly cropped.

Must be tough to find a tender shoot or 2 under all that snow. Pretty light and colors with the red rock.

I love the way they can so delicately find and extract these morsels with their expert use of lips and tongue. He looks totally absorbed in his task in this very nice behaviour illustration Jerry!

I have almost the same pose where he is using his tongue, but there was no catch light in his eye. I thought some day I might combine the 2 exposures and make a digital painting out of it :)
