I had returned to my favorite spot to photograph deer last week, but the rut seemed to be in full swing. There were plenty of bucks but the tension was palpable. The does were skittish and the bucks seemed to chase just about anything.

This photograph was shot in low light, so I could not freeze the motion without cranking up the ISO to 6400, so I went the other way and shot for the motion.

EXIF Nikon D300, Nikkor 200-400VR (@ 330mm) : ISO 400, 1/60 sec @ f4.0

regards,
bruce

I like this action shot a lot! It shows intensity and determination, not the usual cute side of a deer!

Lot of story telling here with the fall foliage in the background and the buck on a mission. This would be better if the head was just a bit sharper, but still a fine image.
