Autumn is the very best time to photograph elk during their rutting season. They often put on quite a show. This bugling elk was calling females to join his harem. He had several female takers.

Good pose and behavior. I agree it is a bit bright. You could reduce the overall exposure, or just tone down the highlights, either would probably work.
