Amazing action image, Missy. I live the eye contact and the paw showing.

Hello Missy

Great interaction with the salmon and exposing those powerful claws.
The nose is a little soft and just beyond sharp dof. I think at this distance and with 500mm DOF is about 50% front and back. I focus half way between eyes and nose on its bridge and usually get sharp eyes and nose, from my experience.

Was this in Alaska in late summer time ?

Thanks for sharing

Bill

Thank you for taking the time to comment, and to give me a good guide for photographing these beautiful creatures in the future.  This image was taken in BC during the salmon spawn, not Alaska.

Wonderful capture Missy, the color of the salmon is so eye-catching and a nice splash in this scene.

Great eye contact, he looks like you caught him doing something he's not supposed to. With his hand in the salmon jar!
