Ram on the Edge

A young bighorn sheep ram is just going over the rim into the Badlands of South Dakota.
Canon 1dMIII, 500mm, 1/160sec at f/4, 800 ISO. Full frame; I had no room to back up as he came towards me since I was on the rim too.

Great shoot with lovely shades. Sharp enough even with 1/160sec and a 500mm!

I love the almost ethereal way the ram appears out of the foreground softness Jerry. A beautiful artistic and quite refreshingly different view of a common subject. A beauty!
