Stepping Up  to a Favorite Log. Evidence can be seen on this log as a Favorite location to be visited by the inhabitants of this Valley of the Bears.

Juvenile Grizzly moving about the shoreline in this Grizzly Bear Sanctuary , situated in CANADAs northern West Coast, just south of Alaska Mountains.

Early season after  recent emerging from the bears  winter dormancy , seeking food, that is abundantly growing  here  known as sedge grass. At lower tides the grass is attainable along the shoreline or a short swim to an island where the grass can be eaten.

D700 @ 200mm with VR on normal , Late morning with rain and overcast skies,
1/500 speed @ F5,  ISO 2500, Hand Held from a Floating Zodiac boat while drifting with the tide. -.67 meter Compensation, Slight crop,

A nice feel to this one Bill. I like the composition and the illustration of the muscle tone and agility as the bear stretches to climb up on the fallen tree.

I too like the feel of this photograph. The log is such a nice compositional element and the green foliage is a great contrast to the brawn of the bruin.

regards,
bruce
