South-american Sea-lion (Otaria flavecens)
Lima, Peru

D800 | 300mm | F5.6 | 1/4000 | ISO 800

This has to be one of my best shots so far. I was waiting for the right wave to hit the island, and I think it ended up paying off! This was taken on one of the islands in front of Lima, where hundreds of seabirds and sea-lions live and procreate. It is truly amazing to watch so many sea-lions together. This shot represents less than 5% of the total population of the island.

Thanks for looking,

Alfredo

The timing of the wave really makes the shot. Neat glimpse of the density of a sea lion colony.

A good illustration of the chaos that is a sea lion colony! I can almost hear the noise from here.
