Winter Porcupine

Living in MN, I start to look forward to the stark landscape of a snowy winter and the ease of finding interesting wildlife subjects. 

This is a winter porcupine doing what porcupines do.
Canon 1D mkiii + 300 f2.8IS & 1.4x vi @ iso 200 and f4.0 & 1/200

This one is best viewed against the shadowbox, helps the detail come out. I love the pose and the arrangement of all the branches, makes a pleasing composition. The pink tongue stands out in the mainly monochrome image!
