Actually this should be entitled Red Fox 1 as this image was the frame before the last image that I posted.  Like the last image, it's full frame except with a small crop from the top.

Nice to see the eyes open Nate and you can really see it squinting against the light to get a better view. I can't get over the variation in what I presume is the winter coat in that area - our UK Reds stay full colour right through winter.

Thanks Carol, this was taken in mid June so I think it's probably the summer coat as well.

Yes, since I wrote that I've been reading up on the various colour phases that can occur in the Red Foxes in Alaska but apparently only in about 2% of the total - so what you got here is not so common.   8)

Hello Nate

One Very Cool Character with "Intense Look" . Was it bright there, with those partially squinted eyes? The Long shadow probably means a Low sun angle?

Has well worn foot pads & worn short nails from that rugged terrain.

Enjoy the Capture & well done.!:)

Bill

Thanks Bill, he was looking into the sun - not quite midnight sun it was taken about 10pm, the evening light is amazing up there in the summer - some of the best light is just after midnight.
