During our Nome workshop last summer led by Ken Archer we found a Red Fox den. At one point when we were about 50 yards from the den, this fox walked right up to us and past us, at one point it was inside my minimum focusing distance, it was very exciting. This is full frame except for a sliver off the top.

Very strange to see one walking with its eyes shut - or did you just time it right to freeze frame a blink/squint because of the sun? This is probably a first for a sleepwalking fox Nate!

Thanks Carol, it just squinted as I hit the shutter I think, in the other images the eyes are open.

Ah,I thought so. Isn't it great when wildlife just carry on as though you weren't there, a real buzz!

Stunning portrait of a red fox. I really like the unique nature of this image... close eyes, full body and unusual color phase.
regards,
bruce

To me this is a look of utter contentment and comfort. Handsome fox and lovely light.

I have never seen a red fox with this colouring. I love the pose and how sweet and content he looks with his eyes closed.
