- Tidal Bounty -
Olympic National Park, Washington, USA

Hi everyone,
Here's an image from Washington's beautiful Olympic National Park. A visit earlier this year coincided with a -2.5 foot tide. This gave me the opportunity to explore the intertidal zone while backpacking along some of the park's remote beaches. The tidal pools here are the most productive and healthy I've ever seen. Several species of sea stars including Ochre, Leather, Bat and Blood Stars were seemingly everywhere, often alongside mats of Purple Sea Urchins and a variety of Chitons. Seen in this photograph are Purple and Orange Ochre Stars, Green Anemones, Purple Encrusting Sponge and a Sea Lemon.
Best of luck,

A nice variety of species in the frame Jess, I am always fascinated by what lurks in sea-side rock pools!
