High class moose and setting. Composition should be a huge gallery seller. Moose do not need antlers to be impressive.

This is great. It looks so nice and peaceful and calm. The slight wake from her crossing is the only disturbance. Looks beautiful mark.

Beautiful light Mark, and I love the way you've caught her hi-stepping as she picks her way through the water. In fact I love everything about the image!

Hello Mark

Nice movement with the leg position, and the sweet reflection.
While I am viewing from my notebooks small screen, maybe @ 1/125 a little soft at the front end ?

but still a sweet capture

Bill

One of my favorites of yours. beautiful light and scene. How are the ticks up there? Are they affecting the moose?

Absolutely lovely Mark, with the nice light and the full reflection. Your framing is excellent, with the moose not cut by the distant bank. I like the timing as wel with him stepping between the grasses and raised leg.

I'm not seeing what you're seeing Bill. I timed the leg lift to be at it's peak of the lift, so there's very little motion in the shot on the front end.

Yeah Steve the Winter ticks are a real problem up here. They seem to be localized though, and not affecting all of the herd. Here in the Katahdin region the moose have reached epidemic tick levels in my opinion. Earlier this month we traveled to upper Northern Maine, and I saw no tick damage whatsoever.  Maine Fish & Game reduced the number of Moose hunting permits statewide by 1,000 - this is attributed to the fatal tick infestation. They had a small moose study where they collared 60 moose, and at the end of the winter almost 25% of them died directly due to the ticks. Not real encouraging!
