Canon 1DX with 800mm f/5.6 lens @ 1/800, f/8, ISO 800

I was driving past a local high school last week, and spotted a family of foxes playing around in a soccer field (this adult with 3 kits) - they were all this gorgeous silver phase colour. They seemed to be hanging out near a possible den along the field that borders a steep hillside, so I hurried home to get my camera gear (which is an hour round trip for me) and luckily they were still there when I returned. While I was trying to get some photos of a young one near the den area (which was hidden by tall grasses & bush unfortunately), the adult came around my backside and approached to within 30 feet or so. She posed long enough to get this portrait before moving away. The background is grass (still dead yet), and then the forested hillside seen in the upper part of the photo. Something about the face just makes me smile, and I'd thought I'd share it here.

The posture and quizzical expression say it all --- "I'm not too sure about this..." A great capture.

Lovely quizzical expression, you've certainly got her attention Pete! I also love the tips of her canines peeping out of her mouth corners.
