Hi everyone,

Please excuse the repost as I believe that I may have shared this image on this forum a couple of years ago. However, it was in dire need of better processing so I recently re-developed this one in hopes of better portraying what I saw on this beautiful evening.

Click here to read more about this encounter on my Facebook photography page.

Best of luck!

You know I love this - a cracking animalscape if I ever saw one. That eye open takes this to another level...

A memorable shot Jess --- the open eye and snow on the coyote flank say it all. I prefer this crop which gives the coyote more prominence than the Feb 2012 version.

Didn't catch the original but this one will do I guess :D .  It's an awesome image and so exemplary of how a powerful and very basic traditional composition can rock socks off viewers. Especially I like the use of the third dimension going back into the image giving us a feeling of depth. Whoever said that blurring out the bg was the bomb...got it wrong...IMO

Great image Jess!

Hi Jess.

I looked up the original post from a couple years ago as I remember it being more dramatic and contrasty than this version. While I like this version very much, I prefer the first one better. http://www.naturescapes.net/forums/view ... g#p2060377

Either way it looks awesome and was a super encounter you had!

Looking at the link Chris provided I might favor the first one too as the overall cast is more bluish and lends more to the cold and vast loneliness of the scene. And the background being darker in the first one looks much more like nightfall and supports what is happening as the coyote beds down.
