Bull frog from Western MA. I put this in the Wildlife forum, not the Macro forum, because it was taken with my 200-400mm lens instead of a macro lens, and it certainly is better for not scaring the critters. This lens turns out to be a good "macro" lens in that it focuses down to about 6 feet or so. Shot from a Wimberely head and Gitzo tripod very low to the ground!

D3S, 200-400mm VR, ISO 250, F16 @ 1/6th sec.

Certainly showing excellent detail in this shot Mark! Superb close up of this prince in disguise.....but I just couldn't kiss it! Love the golden jewel eyes.

The long lens helps simplify the surroundings which is a good thing here. Good sharpness in the eyes and mouth where you need it. I like the head-on viewpoint and low perspective here too.

Super shot! These are so fun and simple to shoot......bullfrogs that is in littoral zones of our northern ponds and lakes. The portrait of this bullfrog's face is one of the best I've seen Mark. You inspire me.

Just curious now, what is it that appears to be a rounded line of water in the SW corner?

He's actually sitting on a lily pad that's partially submerged. What you're seeing is the water's edge "curling" from surface tension.

Wonderful image. I must admit a bit of jealousy. Nice work.
