An Image I believed lost for a long time, but finally found it again.

Small dinghys are engaged in a race near the Angels Gate Lighthouse as a gigantic container ship enters the Los Angeles Harbor. Taken in August of 2008.

EOS 40D, EF 400/5.6 @ f/5.6
A great photograph is absorbed by the eyes and stored in the heart.

Terrific shot! The contrast in size is like gnats around an elephant -- interesting color too. I might be tempted to trim a bit off the top. I'm really glad that you found this image!

An interesting comparison of scale and some great color. I often wonder how many of these containers end up on the ocean floor.

It's less than 1000 per year on average, with the lowest number around 350. Which is much less than the constantly rumored 10,000 per year, and almost nothing compared to the 120 million that get shipped every year.
