Going home from work, Zanzibar - Tanzania

The east coast of the island of Zanzibar is mostly shallow waters where the women are cultivating seeweed for extracting alginate for the cosmetics industry. In this way the fishermens wives have made them a profitable outcome giving them an independent status in these societies. Photo taken December 2011.

Nice cultural image with a great background -- effective use of selective focus too. By the way alginate is much used in dentistry for making impressions, and of course small volume crafts usage. Thanks for including the technical details!

Nice glimpse at a different culture.
A great photograph is absorbed by the eyes and stored in the heart.

I like the subject and off course the location :). The color of the girls clothes really lifts the image, compositionally Id be tempted to exclude some of the sand at the bottom. Perhaps a crop to just above the out of focus seaweed in the lower left.
