Diocletian's Palace is a monument built in the city of Split, Croatia. The monument was built by order of Emperor Diocletian between the third and fourth centuries d. C.

Diocletian ordered the construction of this palace to spend his last days after his abdication in May 305 AD.

Today, the palace has become the heart of the city of Split and can be found around all the buildings and monuments of the city.

The castle is very well preserved and is recognized as one of the most beautiful architectural places of the Adriatic coast of Croatia.

In 1979 UNESCO declared the historic set of Split, including the Diocletian's Palace, a cultural World Heritage Site.

This picture I made last week on my vacation by Croatia, the land of my wife.

Cool shot --- the intermediate shutter speed gives an sense of movement and vitality to the image.

Great image and the ghostly figures add much to the image (ghosts of the past?).
