Hi,

Has anyone used this software (http://piccureplus.com) using "blind deconvolution" to correct soft images? I saw some images by Michael Frye who used the software to correct corner softness in images taken with his Canon 17-40 mm lens and it looked quite promising.

I know that Roger Clark recommends using some deconvolution algorithm (Richardson-Something) for sharpening. Is this software similar? Pros/Cons?

Thanks. Best, Joerg

I downloaded the free trial and tested it over the last few days. I'm not overly impressed, difficult to fine tune so results seem quite clumsy. On the odd image it works okay but does a terrible job on high contrast edges.

The only way I was getting any half decent results was by applying the effects selectively using masks in PS. I certainly think its over priced for what it does but it might get you out of trouble now and again. I would consider buying it as a backup piece of software for the odd image but not at that price. Its way over priced in my opinion.

An update to my last comments.I've been playing with this software a bit more now and although it can be very aggressive with a bit of fine tuning using opacity and masking in PS, on the the right image it can be very affective, while still keeping the image looking natural and not over processed. I am warming to it but again still feels to expensive.
