My Canon 1DMk III is seven years old and operating flawlessly. I have no idea how many shutter actuations I have logged ( is there a way to determine that figure?). Would it be logical to send it in to Canon for a tune-up or should I sit tight until some sort of problem turns up?  I always have a backup camera along so a breakdown would not be a major problem should it occur.

If it is working flawlessly I would not do anything.

I agree, don't fix it until it breaks.
