I use two monitors. My primary monitor is connected to the computer via DVI-D cable. The secondary connector is connected via VGA cable.

Once in a while the secondary monitor does not successfully connect - message on the screen says "no signal". I have replaced the VGA cable and still have the problem occasionally.

Anyone have any ideas on where the problem might be and how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know about your system. I'm on a Mac Pro with two NEC monitors. They only have the DVI and VGA inputs while the Mac Pro (late 2013 model) does not have these, only an HDMI or mini-display port. I've used two mini-display port to DVI connectors to hook up the monitors. Once it is set up they work seamlessly. If I hook one up through the VGA port, I cannot use its full resolution.
