I thought I would post this, Acorn 4 is a PS alternative. It's currently on sale in the App store for $14.99 for those that are interested(was $49.99).

There are a number of reviews comparing it to Pixelmator.

What were their conclusions? I find pixelmator to be pretty good, I just posted this because it is supposed to be a good program and it's on for a "can't lose" sale price.

The reviews I read said both were good and had their strengths but seem to favour Pixelmator. But one reviewer said he liked Acorn's ability to open do a quick edit and do a "Save as" a JPEG without needing to export it as a JPEG as required in Pixelmator.

I have Pixelmator and worked with JPEGs successfully. I processed some noisy RAW images which didn't look as good to me as they did when processed in my other programs. But they continually improve the program so who knows. Another reviewer said he liked the Acorn interface better because it was closer to Photoshop but liked the toolset and the support offered by Pixelmator.

Probably best to try out the trials. I bought the Pixelmator App for $14.99 a year ago. A friend had an old version of Elements but now uses Pixelmator and really likes it.
