I seem to be using the multiple exposure in the camera quite a bit.  Here is my problem.  According to the manual I can set it to Continuous rather than one shot only. I understand this to mean that  I can continue to shoot in multiple exposure mode until I disable it or turn off my camera.  However, after about 3 minutes, when my camera goes to sleep mode, the multiple exposure mode becomes disabled.  I must then enable the multiple exposure function again!  Anyway I can keep the multiple exposure on for a couple of hours say?

What am I missing here?

So, perhaps updating the firmware may cure the disease? I have version 1.2.3

Maybe, I doubt they would document it if they fixed it, or maybe they don't even know about it. That isn't a feature that's used much and it probably was never tested to see what happens if the feature is engaged and the camera goes to sleep.

That is what I was thinking, a back door step to circumvent the dis ease or bug in the software. :-)

Will have to try it that way.

Ok, changed the sleep mode to 30 minutes and now it seems the continuous mode has been expanded to 30 minutes, whereas before I had the sleeping mode set to 3 minutes.  I would say that if the sleep mode is disabled, continuous exposure will never be disabled.

According to the Canon manual, only these two conditions disable the continuous exposure function:
  • If the power switch is set to <OFF> or the battery is replaced after you set multiple exposure settings, multiple-exposure shooting will be canceled.
Personally, I think it would be clearer to state that the sleeping mode/hibernation also will disable this function.

Bug solved! :-)

It's a bug, I doubt they intended it to shut off when the camera goes to sleep

I agree, based on the manual it should not disable when hibernating.
