Canon dropped their lens prices today across the board on L lenses in the USA - as much as $500 on super-teles:

Great news.  I notice the 100-400 Version II is not on the list :(

Not good if you are north of the border. Prices went up here in Canada a year ago when the CDN $ started to slide. The 500 II used to be $8,650 (the low price at one retailer) 2 years ago and now it is $10,500 (which coincidentally was the US price 2 years ago) at same retailer and maybe higher elsewhere.

I see the Canon 6D can be had for $1,150 USD (gray market but with a seller warranty). I really want a 6D for high ISO shooting. I can only push the 7D MK2 so much.

And yet Olympus has the same prices on their m43 lenses (their sales are lame). Panny seems to have random discounts but generally there has been no major or systematic price cuts that you could attribute to foreign currency rates.

With a new wave of Canon rebates starting on the 3rd, I see even less reason to invest in any of the m43's PRO lenses.

Cheers,

Jim
