Thought this would be of interest to some.  Imagine the possibilities...

I can't even imagine where 3D printing is going to take us...as far as the lens mentioned, don't you think Nikon would have devised a system for filters? After all this is a landscape lens.

Pretty cool stuff....The Skimmer was first "printed" on one of these before a mold was created and it was taken to market. I still have the print.

3D printing is getting set to change the world as we know it. Talk about enabling those whose creative ideas have traditionally been stifled by lack of money for development. Of course artists are going to have a field day, but objects made in plastic are just the tip of the ice berg. Soon we will create food, dna strands, engineered life. Materials will graduate to the extremes of molecular science.

It's going to get interesting and real fast too.....

I wonder if terrorists will be able to make custom viruses someday on their bio nano 3d printers?

I have a 3d printer and have started to make some custom underwater photo accessories.  One is a custom cap that has 2 fiber optic
"light pipes" that can direct the flash from the strobe like a snoot, but it's on flexible arms so I can position them as I want. Here's a photo of the snoot

Although this has nothing to do with the topic of cameras, I thought it was interesting regarding 3D printing and the possibilities at a low cost:
