Based on what I have seen in the news, it would appear drones are legal to fly (for personal use) as long as it meets certain requirements (max flight height of 90 meters, falls under a certain weight, in daylight, not for commercial purposes, not for invasion of privavcy and not where it is prohibited (at least 8km from an airport, parks that prohibit it, etc.).

Yep, clear as mud. All I can see is that if I put my drone up over something and take a video or picture, I'm allowed to as long as I don't sell it. Yet, there is no difference at all in terms of safety if the same drone is used. Yet, commercial purposes is NOT allowed.

I guess commercial drone users aren't as safe as hobbyists.

I'm just glad to see they haven't banned the use of drones for recreational use. You can still use one to take some nice scenics at locations which allow it (just stay within the rules).
