Going to Colorado Springs for a few days.  Other than Garden of the Gods what other areas are good for landscape and general photography.  I will have lenses from 16-400 mm with me.  I photograph old cars, landscapes, flowers, wildlife, birds, architecture, etc.  Just about anything.  I fly in on Thursday AM and out on Sunday late AM.  Thanks

Helen Hunt Falls sounds interesting too:

You might be interested in  a road trip up to the summit of pikes peak,  Big horn sheep often seen near or at the summit, tho no sure thing.  Might like the views going up.
Also the cog railroad at Manitou springs.  Wildlife often spotted on the trip up to the peak.  and gives one a different look of the area.  Garden of the gods, gives you some
unique rock formations to photograph and they do see bighorn sheep in the area on occasions.  If you go to the garden of the gods, go early in the day, for the morning
light , and to avoid others of course..  It can be congested later in the day.  The weather should be great for photography at that time.  Enjoy

The afternoon light at Garden of the Gods is sweet too. Here, for example, is a fall color image:

I wonder about Cave of the Winds. I have not been there but recently saw some images and it looks pretty impressive. If the weather is bad and you want to get out of the weather, it might be an option.

A little east of Westcliffe on highway 96, the view of the Sangres (to the west) is sweet. They'd look far better snow-capped, but would still be a worthy sunrise shot. You'd have to search around for foreground interest for wide shots, but tight shots are just as effective with some of the impressive peaks.

Great Sand Dunes are 2.5 hours (longer if continuing from Westcliffe) from Colorado Springs and would have to be a must-visit given that you have multiple days to work with.

A trip to Cripple Creek/Victor for old buildings from the gold rush area. Many scenic roads and trails around that area. For Gold Belt Scenic Byways see http://www.blm.gov/wo/st/en/res/Educati ... print.html

If you are into hiking there are hikes on all sides of Pikes Peak.

And yes, Gardens of the Gods can get full by mid-morning on since there is limited parking. Get there a bit before sunrise so you can walk to areas to photograph. Or have your driver drop you off while they continue on to a designated parking area.
