JULY 2008

While hunting around the web for rock samples to satisfy my latest passion for macro stone abstracts, I saw this stone and knew I had to have it. It brought to mind a color explosion, or a playful artist throwing paint at a canvas. I was able to create an image within a fraction of a second with my camera, although it took nature millions of years to bring this palette together.

Nikon D2X, Nikkor 105 f2.8 VR macro lens, Nikon R1C1 cross-polarized macro flashes, polarizer.

All adjustments made in Adobe Lightroom, except for resizing, sharpening and converting for web use, done in Photoshop CS3.
