JUNE 2008

Why does a young woman give up her desk-job? Because she can no longer stand to stay inside. Having found her photographic niche in wildlife babies and animal family life, Suzi Eszterhas lives almost nine months in the bush. A native Californian, Suzi had some higher education in Africa and fell in love with the country, cultures and languages. With superdrive to get the story and impeccable field ethics, Suzi gets down and dirty to document wildlife babies, sometimes waiting hours without moving for the right moments and months to document their natural histories. Her goal is publication and education; her hope is to influence others towards conservation and never to return permanently to a desk.

Spotted Hyenas (Crocuta crocuta) -- featured in Ranger Rick (June 07), Smithsonian (May 08) and also National Geographic Kids South Africa. The photo essay in National Geographic South Africa won an award for Suzi, Best Photographer of the Year from Media 25 Publications in South Africa. More of Suzi's work may be seen at www.eszterhasphotography.com and www.mindenpictures.com.
